Akai MPD16 USB Pad Midi Controller
Equipped with 16 totally assignable MPC pads switchable across two banks (thereby giving you effectively 32 pads) plus a performance slider for hi-hat and other sample switching, the MPD16 is the definitive laptop rhythm controller.
The MPD16 has (of course) MIDI out so that it can be used with any sampler or sound module. Each pad can be set to output MIDI notes of your choosing with a variable velocity range and these can all be set conveniently via your Mac or PC.
However, the MPD16 is also equipped with USB. Not only can it derive its power supply from that interface when used with Akai Professional's USB equipped Z4 or Z8, it can also transform these rack mount samplers into rhythm powerhouses.
The MPD16 also inherits some of the MPC series' features such as the FULL LEVEL and 16 LEVELS functions available on dedicated switches.
