CLB LB-8A Digital Micro Player for Announcements & Recorded Messages

The LB-8A by Clever little Boxes is a  super-compact Audio Store & Replay unit uses an internal, secure 4GB SD Card to
store and replay a choice of 8 different recorded messages and / or tones which are activated via voltage-free (dry) contact closures
(such as switch relays or timer units).

This is a great alternative to the IDAL Micro Player

The LB-8A Digital Audio Store is supplied with 8 pre-loaded Tones
and Chimes; however, these can easily be replaced with the user’s
own choice of bespoke Tones or Voice Messages by copying
pre-recorded audio WAV files onto the unit’s internal SD Card.
The LB-8A is ideal for applications such as retail audio advertising,
school class change, factory shift change, health & safety / warning
messages, vehicle safety warning messages, plus many more…
The Unit is housed within a compact, rugged and secure metal
enclosure with connections made via a screw terminal block.
Power is provided from a 15v DC plugtop PSU (supplied), or from an
external 12v power supply.

The Clever Little Box LB-8A is a compact, contact-closure triggered media player. It is intended for use in commercial audio installations where it may be necessary to playback pre-recorded audio tracks such as chimes, music and announcements on-demand via contact-closure triggering. The system could be particularly useful in theme parks and museums, retail environments, schools and airports. Providing on-demand tones, sound effects or messages via computer controlled, timed or switched contact closure. Integration into larger PA systems could be achieved with the use of a suitable pre-amplifier, mixer or mixing amplifier with priority line level inputs such as the Cloud MPA240.

Up to 8 audio tracks (files) of any duration can be stored on a single 4GB SDHC memory card (supplied), which is mounted internally to prevent unauthorised removal or content modification. Eight sample tones are supplied: Whoop, Two-Tone, GMP pips, Continuous, 4 note chime ascending, 4 note chime descending, Ding Dong and 4 note chime ascending soft. The LB-8A is compatible with FAT32 format, WAV audio files with sample rates up to 22.05 KHz. Eight voltage free (dry) contact closure screw terminals trigger playback of the corresponding audio file. Terminal T1 corresponds to File 001, T2 to File 002 and so on. A small editable command file (script) is stored on the SDHC memory card and is used to determine the 'playback mode'. Modes offered include 'Non-interruptible', 'Interruptible', 'Holdable' and 'Script' (default). It is also possible to modify the 'Trigger Modes'. Options include 'Close Contact' (default), 'Open Contact', 'Make Contact' and 'Break Contact'. Note: An LB-8A cannot have a mix of trigger modes across its trigger inputs. E.g. T1 cannot be set in contact closure mode with triggers T2 to T8 functioning via open contact. Trigger modes are configured in script playback.

A separate voltage free switched pair is also provided via screw terminals. This enables the control of external equipment such as muting circuits and relays during audio playback. Audio output is unbalanced line level via 3.5mm jack socket. Powering is via 15V DC PSU (supplied). An LED indicates power status.

Triggering audio playback
Playback is triggered via the trigger inputs. All inputs are internally pulled up and, if left unconnected, have a voltage of 3.3V (logic “1”). 5V signal is tolerated and also seen as logic “1”. Logic “0” is ground.
Each input directly triggers a corresponding file: T1 = File 001, T2 = File 002, ......, T8 = File 008.
A trigger is valid when the input is shorted to the ground for at least 50ms. The triggers are prioritized from T1 (the highest) to T8 (the lowest). However, it does not mean a higher priority input can interrupt a lower one. It only means that if multiple triggers are applied at the same time, the highest priority wins.
Playback Modes

The LB-8A will play files in one of four modes:
Non-interruptible Playback
The file is played once per trigger. The playback is not interruptible except by the system reset. Looping is possible by applying a constant trigger on the input.
Interruptible Playback
The file is played once per trigger if not interrupted. Any input (including itself) can interrupt the playback later. Looping is possible by applying a constant trigger on the input.
Holdable Playback
The file is played for as long as the input is triggered, looping if necessary. It is not interruptible except by the system reset.
Script Playback (default)
(See the Script Playback Mode section for descriptions & configuration).
Trigger Modes
Triggers are by default activated via contact closure where closure pulls the trigger to ground activating the related audio file or script command. The four available trigger modes are as follows:
Close Contact (default)
Input is continuously triggered when it‟s at 0V (ground).
Open Contact
Input is continuously triggered when it‟s left open or at 3.3V/5V.
Make Contact
Input is triggered one time as it goes from 3.3V/5V to 0V.
Break Contact
Input is triggered one time as it goes from 0V to 3.3V/5V.

Delivery Notes
On delivery you must inspect the goods carefully for damage as Inta Audio is unable to accept responsibility for damage in transit, shortage of delivery or loss of products unless the customer advises Inta Audio of such within three working days from the date of delivery.

Returns Policy

We ask that you follow these guidelines to help us process your return as quickly and efficiently as possible:

1. Please keep your order reference to hand. This confirms your original order and gives us the necessary details to authorise the product’s return.

2. Contact our Customer Services Team on 02476 369898 (or e-mail cs@inta-audio.com). We will then send you an RMA number and returns form which needs to be completed and sent back with the returned item(s).

3. (If the order has been unpacked) re-package it to ensure that it is being returned in its original condition. Please make sure all items relating to the product are returned, including manuals and cables.

4. When returning an item please obtain a ‘proof of postage’ receipt from the Courier.


Returned items must be mailed within 10 days of when the RMA Number has been issued. Items received with a post date 30 days after your requested return will NOT be eligible for refund.

Please note: Our returns policy is quite straightforward but there are a number of conditions that we ask our customers to comply with before applying:

1. It is your responsibility to request a return. If you don’t tell us you want to make a return, we don’t know. Once you do tell us, we will do everything we can to action it.

2. If you have not requested a return within 28 days of receiving an order, we will have assumed that you are intending to keep it and we will not authorise a return.

3. We always refund the payment according to how the original purchase was made and aim to do so within 72hrs of the return being received by us.

4. Returned goods are liable for a restocking fee of 15% towards handling and repackaging if the order is not returned in its original, unopened packaging. This charge will be subject to our inspection of the returned goods.

5. Delivery charges will not be refunded unless the delivered goods are faulty.

6. Replacement products are dispatched immediately after the returned goods have been received and accepted by Inta Audio.

7. Items that develop a fault within 30 days of delivery are eligible for a replacement or a refund. Delivery costs are also reimbursed for faulty items. Please contact our Customer Services Team on 02476 369898 if you believe your item has developed a fault.
