When installing a 100v line system its important to balance the system correctly. Please ensure all speakers are not set to 8 ohm and this will cause the system to malfunction.
Simply work out where your speakers are to be installed and then total the combined wattage for each this area. For this example each speaker will be set to 10 watts.
Room 1 has a total of 6 speakers each set to 10w (60watt Load) Max allowance achieved
Simply run one cable to this area from the amp and daisy chain all 6 speakers.
When connecting the other end of the cable to the amp connect the negative cable (usually black or blue) to “COM” and connect the positive (usually red or Brown) to Zone 1 “100v” (note do NOT use 8ohm)
Repeat the process for Room / Area 2,3 and 4
All areas are to be connected to 1 output and daisy chained. In this example you can connect a maximum total of 12 speakers each set to 10w (120watt Load) or up to 24 speakers if set to 5w. Simply run one cable to this area from the amp and daisy chain all the speakers.
When connecting the other end of the cable to the amp connect the negative cable (usually black or blue) to “COM” and connect the positive (usually red or Brown) to Zone 1 “100v” (note do NOT use 8ohm)
we recommend that you try and space your speakers approximately 5 meters apart. This is simply a guide but no more than 10 meters apart to avoid dead spots.
Its important to use the correct cable. Standard speaker cable regardless of the thickness is not recommended, We strongly recommend that you use 100v line speaker cable or a minimum of 2 core mains flex rated to carry 240v. This is a classic sign of over loading or incorrect speaker tapping
Potential issue 1, Speakers have either a dial or a switch where you can select 8 Ohm, 5w,10w, 15w or 20w etc. In most cases installers set the speakers to 8ohm. This is NOT correct, If you are using a 100v line system you need to select one of the wattage settings I.e 5,10,15,20.
Potential Issue 2, Overloading. The combined wattage of the speakers connected to each zone (speaker output on the amp) must not exceed the max wattage of the amp.
Example: 240w 4 Zone amp is rated at 60w per zone so if you have 4 speakers connected to Zone 1 then these can be set to a max of 15w each. If you choose to set them to 20w each then this will over load the zone and the end result will be the amp will over heat and cut out and in some cases simply blow the amps outputs.
Some of our larger amps have 480w outputs over four zones (120w Per Zone) and here is a typical wiring layout
Zone 1 (Bar) - 8 Speakers set to 15w
Zone 2 (Restaurant) - 6 Speakers set to 5w
Zone 3 (Entrance & Toilets) - 6 speakers set to 5w
Zone 4 (Outdoor Garden / Smoking Zone) - 4 Speakers set to 10w.
Whilst the speaker wattages seem quite low this is common as the key is to A: ensure the correct placement and B: use the correct amount of speakers to avoid dead spots.
