Building upon the incredibly popular UR series, the UR-RT2 and UR-RT4 offer the same functionality and high- sound quality you’d expect from a modern audio interface, with the added bonus of in-built Neve transformers.
What’s the difference between a UR interface and UR-RT interface?
Steinberg introduced their UR interface series (UR12, UR22, UR44 & more) a few years ago, and have become one of our, if not the UK’s best-selling audio interfaces, thanks to it’s affordable price point and high sound quality. The D-Pre preamps offer a very low signal-to-noise ratio, while retaining low latency and no colouration of the input signal.
The UR-RT series are practically identical in this respect, with the most noticeable exception being the inclusion of Rupert Neve transformers.
Rupert Neve is regarded as a pioneer in the world of audio recording and production, and his name is often associated with only the highest sound quality. He’s achieved this by designing and creating some of the best electronic components used in audio hardware, and the signature sound of these can be heard in countless songs and movies, mixed on Neve desks and other hardware in the worlds top recording studios. Put simply – any professional recording studio, from Abbey Road to Hollywood will more than likey be using, or have used a Neve mixing desk, and you would most definitely have heard a song or movie mixed on one.
The transformers in the UR-RT series bring this sonic character to your very own studio. They can be toggled on and off as required, and bring a soft, warm and distortion to the audio signal to give more depth and perspective to your recording, while retaining the clarity and cleanliness of the Preamp.
